General Description:

Mario was involved with this project from the initial conception.   Mario's primary task was to provide a cost effective solution for this 78,300 S/F Sportsplex which would be functional, energy efficient and have an aesthetically pleasing appearance.  After proposing his design and beating out 3 other firms, Mario was able to work with a consulting team that didn't have much pre-engineered structure experience to implement an integrated design that met all of the clients needs.

Design Highlights:

• The Pitch portion is a 146' clear-span, single slope frame design with a standing seam roof assembly. 
• The Amenities section of the building was designed as a two storey, lean-to frame design with a flat, built-up roof assembly which supported all the roof top mechanical units.
• The wall assembly was a combination of vertical, micro-rib profile and horizontal, flat profile with stucco finish insulated panel.  Mario also detailed the framing assembly required to integrate the Precast, Aluminum Panel and Curtain Wall Glazing. 
• The Pitch portion was designed to allow for a full field playing surface or to be divided into 5 fields by dropping full height curtains which are supported by the clear span rafters. 
•  The Amenities area ground floor includes meeting rooms, change rooms and mech/elec. room.  The second floor includes a restaurant with viewing balcony, meeting rooms and a fitness centre.
